Certified passive house planner distinction awarded to Günter Lang

The distinction "certified passive house planner" was awarded on 16 July 2013 to Ing. Günter Lang by Ms. Susanne Theumer from the Passivhaus Institut, representing Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Feist, in Vienna. With his documentation of the PHI-certified passive house in Pettenbach, which is Austria's first building renovation project to reach passive house standard, Günter Lang was able to prove the required expertise and careful application of planning and implementation of the passive house criteria.
Meanwhile, actual heating, end and primary energy consumption figures over 7 years have become available, all of which are lower than calculated according to the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP). This demonstrates impressively that it pays to provide exact dimensions using the right calculation programme from the very beginning of planning. This building already now meets all criteria of the nearly zero energy buildings directive that will be obligatory throughout the EU from 2020 on. LANG consulting has established itself as an acknowledged expert based on intense networking, research and consulting activities concerning all aspects of the passive house. It was particularly due to close cooperation with the Passivhaus Institut, his function as advisory board member for the International Passive House Association (iPHA), and his 10 years as managing director of IG Passivhaus in Austria that Günter Lang made a considerable contribution to networking global passive house actors and raise public awareness of the passive house standard.
The passive house for new and old buildings, energy efficiency and orientation towards a sustainable future are the focal points of LANG consulting. As a speaker at universities and congresses, Mr. Lang has attended more than 200 passive house conferences, seminars and training courses all over the world. His own home where he has lived since 1999 is one of the first passive houses in Austria. LANG consulting activities comprise pioneering research projects, product, project and settlement development, communication, press spokesman, lobbying, seminars, publications, expert opinions and studies in the field of the passive house standard and nearly zero energy buildings for new buildings and refurbishment of existing buildings. A major focus is on passive house project development in China.
Globally, altogether 3230 certified passive house planners and consultants, 227 of them located overseas and across all continents and climatic zones, have established themselves in 40 countries by now. This demonstrates once again that the passive house standard has become a well-proven and workable building standard worldwide.
